Career paths, yikes!

by @dm1n

So January is here, it’s now 2012. I can’t believe time is flying by so fast! How did you guys spend your Christmas, Hanuka or other holidays? How did you spend your New Years? I spent my New Years at home with my lovely, and my room mates. It was very casual and chill. We had a few drinks, watched some shows, had some nice food. It was all pretty casual and calm. But then we got to thinking about our careers.

What about your career? I was looking on Craigslist and other sites, not to mention looking at newspapers and such for career ideas. I saw entries for Medical Secretaries Jobs, and medical billing and coding people. But I wasn’t sure if that was the path for me. What’s your path? Have you figure it out yet? I haven’t figure out my path yet.

But it’s never too late to find out. You are never too old to try to figure out what you want, and you are never a failure if you decide to change who you are. Changes are good! With that, I’ll say “Peace Out” and enjoy my dinner.

Job hunting, not fun.

My friend Sally has been looking for jobs for almost six months by now. She can’t find work, and it hasn’t been because of a lack of trying. I’m on the phone a lot of the time with her lately, and I can tell you that she’s trying really hard! It’s just that in a crappy market like this, no one wants to hire you. Even if you have a degree.

Not even a associates degree, but a bachelor’s degree. I think that’s ridiculous! Our economy is so screwed right now that people with higher education can’t get work at a decent place. Sally was just telling me that the last step she had left was to apply to fast food places, and pray for any management jobs that might fly by her.

If you’re gonna work at fast food joints, at least get a manager position for your degree. It’s honestly ludicrous. And she isn’t the only one that has a situation like this!
