I’ve played just about every Free-to-Play MMORPG out there. MMORPG? Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. What a mouthful. Free-to-Play? Just what it sounds like. A game that is free to play.
Generally the model with these F2P games is as follows:
- No limitations. They aren’t trials. You can play until the level cap (very highest level) without paying a dime. If you want. That’s where this next bit comes in.
- Cash Shop. A Cash Shop is a store, either on the website or in-game, that you can access and purchase things for your character with real money. These transactions are usually called RMT (Real Money Transactions) or Micropayments.
This is all fine and dandy. But what really pisses me off is when I see this example:
