Okay. I’m all for gadgets. I LOVE gadgets. If I could have a tiny robot do my dishes, that would be fantastic. But gadgets, doo-dads and thingamabobbers are getting smaller and smaller. (I have, since posting this blog post, been informed that there is a robot that washes dishes. called a dishwasher. I’m incredibly intelligent, yes)
Have you guys seen the latest iPod Shuffles? Or the latest bluetooth headsets? Even stuff like a camcorder are smaller and smaller! Look at the Flip, or whatever it’s called. I know that some stuff are way better at a much smaller size. But this is ridiculous.
My younger cousin bought a new mobile from AT&T for her birthday (well, her sister’s birthday. but that’s an entire story all together). She was bragging about how awesome her new phone is. You know. Touch screen, stream videos, make coffee. Being a total geek, I was all “SHOW ME!”. And… Just wow.
I could barely make out the freakin’ numbers. The numbers were scrunched up into a tiny QWERTY keyboard. And you would think being nearsighted would help. I took off my glasses and squinted. Holy. Do all you kids use tiny keypad phones?
This is a really weird emerging trend. Tech is getting smaller and smaller. But at what cost? Sure, tiny stuff is cute. Stuff like camcorders and radios being small? Sure. iPod? Maybe. If you can actually read the controls on it. But a phone? I honestly don’t see why making them ultra-tiny, make them a selling point.
What gadgets do you think need to be even smaller than the ones out there on the market? And what gadgets do you think should be bigger?
Don’t give me any more of this tiny-keypad-on-a-phone-with-no-contrast stuff. Seriously. I dunno if I’m old. But I would like to buy an expensive, kickass phone that I can actually see the numbers on. Mkay? Thx.
