Okay, okay. So my 22nd birthday isn’t here until February 22nd (the only year I’ll ever be able to say 22nd twice!), but I wnated to give myself an early gift.

Since I’ve been back to the web world, I’ve done a ton of research. After a lot of thinking, and a ton of brain-hurty planning, I decided to go for it.

I’m opening a web hosting website. That’s right, “Another baby hosting website that’ll crash and burn after a few months”. Well no, because I don’t plan on crashing and burning. I think I have a pretty snazzy plan on how to build it up. Of course, it’s just me right now. But don’t all empires start with one man? (ha, I flatter myself)

I bought the domain HostmyHeart.com (with a reasonable reseller package from a company that’s been around for more than three years) and I also bought the $20 PDF book for Inkscape, which has proven to be extremely awesome and simple. I have so much respect for Inkscape and it’s developers. I don’t think I’ll ever be using Adobe Illustrator. I’m just too happy with Inkscape.

I dunno if anyone’s notice, but I’ve been a bit spacy the last few days on here. There have been a ton of unexpected, really big events in my life and I’m trying to deal with them all.

One of the bigger things going on is that my mom’s boyfriend’s family is here for a little over a month. Two brothers and his mom are staying here. So, it’s seven people under one roof. We only have two rooms. As you can imagine, it’s very cramped, and busy, and loud here.

Another unexpected development is that my father and his wife are here in the states for a month as well, with their two daughters.

I know I haven’t said anything about my personal life on here, because frankly, it’s full of a lot of things that makes me cry. My father being one of these things that make me cry. Probably topping that list, actually.

I’ll drop in once in a while, maybe finally add a second part to my Weird Blog Trends series. We’ll see.

I love animated films. And this isn’t just including Disney, either. Other companies such as FOX have had their fair hand in the animated movie era.

I say Era, because there really aren’t any hand-drawn animated films around anymore. At least, any decent ones. (I don’t count Disney’s Princess and the Frog because I haven’t seen it). Most of the animated films nowadays are rendered in 3D. This is all fair and good, but I feel like they’ve lost their magic since I was a wee little thing.

What a lot of these 3D animated movies lack is a magical component that drove me to love all my 80s, 90s (and earlier) animated films. This magical component is Song. Musical numbers you can be taken away by, drawn into a different world. Melodies that get stuck in your head for days at a time. Tunes you can be sucked into, delighted by, even cry over. (okay let’s not get carried away now)

I have to say, this is one of the reasons I absolutely love the older hand-drawn animated movies. It was a key element that further drove me into the story, and let me know how the characters were feeling. Or what they wanted in their lives. Or just a random song to pad the movie.

I was going to list my top five animated musical numbers, but everyone always lists Disney. So, this is my top five songs from animated films (almost) no one remembers. Let’s start!
